Zwift launches new annual subscription with cost savings over monthly membership

Popular indoor cycling app Zwift has shaken up its traditional subscription model by adding a new annual membership. Sure to be popular among the ever-growing contingent of year-round Zwifters, the new subscription offers savings over its monthly option, providing 12 months of Zwifting for the price of 10.

Traditionally, Zwift has only provided a monthly subscription but there were signs that this was set to change when it made both the Hub and Hub One turbo trainers available with one-year subscriptions as standard. The American brand hinted that this would be extended in its Equipment and Software Bundles FAQ: “We plan to launch standalone annual memberships in the future.”

This new subscription has now been confirmed, with an annual membership costing $149.99 plus tax in the United States, £129.99 in the United Kingdom, and €149.99 in the European Union. To give customers the chance to test the app before committing to the full subscription, Zwift also says that the new membership has a 30-day money-back guarantee.

While it changes the subscription options available, the new annual membership won’t affect the monthly option which will remain at the same price.

The announcement comes after a busy few months for Zwift in which the American brand released its second dedicated turbo trainer, the Zwift Hub One. It caught the headlines thanks to its virtual shifting and a one-cog set-up, called Zwift Cog, which makes it compatible with most eight to 12-speed bikes.

It followed that up by unveiling plans for the Zwift Games, which is set to be the largest cycling esports competition ever, and has also confirmed the return of Zwift Academy for 2023. Through the programme, riders have the opportunity to earn a spot on the rosters of development squads of WorldTour teams Alpecin-Deceuninck and Canyon-SRAM, and it has unearthed many stars since debuting in 2016, most notably Jay Vine and Neve Bradbury.
